COOPERATION THROUGH
LEADERSHIP
| Dog Psychology
is our primary training method. . . |
If you want a well-behaved and
obedient dog, you must be your dog's master and leader. Being the mommy and the
buddy is not enough. Many un-wanted behaviors are the result of confusion over
who the leader is. If your dog is not sure who the leader is (or is sure it is
him or her), he likely will constantly try to assert himself and make
problems.

Bribing your dog with food or
forcing will not work. You need to get your dog to cooperate.
- Never hit or yell at your dog.
It almost always makes problems worse.
- Never let your dog jump on you
EVER.
- Feed dog(s) on schedule. Leave
food down only for 20 minutes.
- You decide when, and if, your
dog greets friends, strangers and other dogs.
- You initiate and end
play.
- You decide when, and if, you pet
you dog.
- Mostly use petting to tell your
dog you love him or for praise.
- Don't repeat commands you can't
enforce, i.e., "sit, sit, sit, sit, sit sit sit."
- Do not get louder and louder
when giving commands. Be firm, not loud.
- Do not bend down or over while
giving commands.
- If your dog tries to stare you
down, you must win the staring contest.
- Don't let your dog muscle you,
block your way, or lay on you feet.
- Allowing dogs on furniture, or
especially on beds, is asking for trouble. Leaders maintain higher positions.
- Use the "Down" command often.
"Down" makes your dog respect you because it is a submissive position.
- Hitting or yelling almost always
makes bad behavior worse and always causes more problems.

This is
written to be informative and helpful. Implementing all these leadership
guidelines may not be appropriate or easy without the proper training and can
even make matters worse for you and your dog. Feel free to call us with your
questions or concerns.
Our dog training method is based
on respect and trust, not bribing with food.

David
Baron's Siberian Husky "Happy Puppy" at DogAnswers Ranch in Roseville,
CA Focus on the psychology of the
relationship. When you have the right kind of
relationship with your dog there are virtually no behavior problems and the dog
obeys without a leash.

IT REALLY WORKS AND MAKES SENSE
YOU SEE RESULTS
IMMEDIATELY What we do is practical,
makes sense, and is effective.
We teach techniques and make the
dog owner the dog trainer. We teach clients proper posture, timing, body
language, voice tonation, inflection and attitude. We make sure the dog does
everything for the client. It doesn't matter if we can train your dog. What
matters is your dog responding for you.
In a really short amount of time
we teach you how to calm your dogs' mind so you and your dog(s) can hang out
together without all the yelling and constant correcting bad
behavior.

PHILOSOPHY
You will never get
Off-Leash Obedience or control with Food-Bribery You
need to win psychologically, manage the dog correctly, follow through with
commands every time and form a love bond with the dog. Compulsion and
Food-Bribery are not enough. You need to get the dog to
want to cooperate just because the dog loves you and trusts
you.

Getting the dog
to like being obedient and obeying commands

Happy,
Shiela and Spirit on "Sit-Stay" If you don't win
psychologically all you are left with is hitting, kicking, screaming, being
mean or bribing with food. . .
Either it pretty much happens on the first lesson and
there is a fairly dramatic change in the dog's attitude and behavior or there
probably never will be.
 You
Must get the dog to submit and go subordinate and then back up ALL the
commands everytime.

How
do you do that you ask? We get the dog on "Down"
which is a submissive position and "Heel" which is a subordinate position
ALMOST ALWAYS during the first lesson.

No Matter how
aggressive, dominant, stubborn, aggressive or BIG, we
get the dog on "Down" during the first lesson.

Usually we get the
dog to "Heel" during the first lesson too. "Heel" is when you walk your dog and
the front paws are equal with or behind your feet.

If
the dog won't "Down" and "Heel," you have nothing. Maybe the dog loves
you, but surely does not respect you. Don't expect much in the way of obedience
if your dog won't do "Down" from 30 to 40 feet away and "Heel" while walking on
a leash.

If the dog won't "Down" and "Heel" and you don't win
psychologically you will never ever get the dog to behave
OFF-LEASH.
SIT is
HUGE. If your dog knows the
commands well and won't "Sit-Stay," "Up-Sit" or insists on laying down when you
say "Sit," that means you have a defiant dog. These types of psychological
battles when won usually result in a dramatic change in the dog's behavior and
level of cooperation.

Deal with Deficiencies
Also
focus on getting the dog to be calm, to be mellow and relax.
Ask yourself, "What do I need to do to get the dog to conform
to the behavior I need?"

"Stand-Stay"
For most people that first means calling in an
expert who can show them how to get the best results in the least amount of
time at the home.

We are confident that when you
consider our program and meet us that you won't want other dog
trainers.
You don't
need to spend $1,500 or send your dog away to get dog trained. Call us and
be much happier, much much happier.
